Message from ‘Founding Principal’

We set up Kirk View Kindergarten in 1982, with a simple goal - to bring to Gaya, the place of my husband’s birth and early education, an institution that would provide quality educational to young children. With a modest beginning from ‘Kirk View’, the School today has a sprawling campus in the heart of Gaya. From the playschool ‘reception’ that welcomed children as young as three years old, today the school in the city has grown to Class VII.

Living up to the motto of the founder Director ‘Learn to Play, Play to learn’, has been a wonderful journey as the school has taken on qualified staff and children have moved into higher classes. Keeping pace with changing times, Kirk View Kindergarten has added hands on activity rooms and has affiliated computer classes. Children are aided through smart classes which is a digital learning eco- system which makes the end to end process of teaching and learning more engaging and easy. At the core of smart class is rich multimedia based, pedagogically appropriate content mapped to school curriculum.

Today Kirk View Kindergarten boasts of one of the best playschools in Gaya. It has the ideal environment for toddlers, abundant space surrounded with greenery and pets. Children are taught with appropriate teaching tools according to their age group almost always learning by doing. All classes have big well ventilated class rooms with a teacher student ratio of 1:20. More than 20 class rooms. Spread over 17,000 square feet, the City school has play grounds, computer laboratories and a library.

To think that all this began in the British styled bungalow named Kirk View, which faces a church lending it its name “Kirk” meaning church in Scottish, only emphasizes the vision of the founders of the school that Gaya, needed to make the wonderful space for generations to come.

Message from the Chairperson

All great ideas begin with a commitment to the future. Late Mr. Debrabrata Chatterjee believed that holistic education laid the foundation to our future. It was with this vision that he founded the Kirk View Kindergarten in 1981. He also believed that education, besides gaining knowledge, must also imbibe ethical and moral values in life.

Kirk View Kindergarten has over the past 32 years focused on preparing children to meet the challenges of a new school. It is now time for us to take the next logical step – expansion and affiliation. Kirk View Kindergarten’s recognition within the City, and the growing clamour from parents that they would like their children to continue in Kirk View’s premises has had the founders of the school think about taking the leap of faith.

In the next few years, the Kirk View School will open its Rajpura campus with Classes I to Class X. Keeping in view the growing need for the right environment for quality education, the Rajpura Kirk View School’s campus will be equipped with games complex and infrastructure including science laboratories, computer labs to meet the needs of higher education.

Education, we believe, should be child centered. The focus of the school will be on needs of the children, freedom to experiment with new ideas and practices, trust and fair play, diversity and plurality, striving for excellence. The school will work to give the student an edge over their counterparts in higher studies. Children will have access to a third language (from Class V to Class VIII), art, socially useful productive work and community service, physical education and moral and spiritual education and socially useful productive work and community service.

‘A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning’ (Brad Henry). Experienced teachers skilled in guiding children at the pre primary, primary and senior school level will be part of the team. The focus will be on using interactive method of teaching with the teacher being more a facilitator rather than an instructor.

The aim of the school will be to provide quality teaching supported by a spirited environment which will encourage students to ask questions, debate and discuss freely with an open mind, thereby helping them build confidence in their own abilities. This will enable independent thinking and learning. In today’s competitive world, the team at Kirk View School will build on its knowledge to give the children of Gaya a completely new experience.
